Nicoline Bovens

Nicoline BovensMezzo soprano Nicoline Bovens completed her studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Marianne Dieleman, before participating in master classes with Jard van Nes, Robert Holl, Anthony Rolfe -Johnson and William Shimell. She received a performance diploma with honourable mention for her performance of Circles by Luciano Berio. Grants from the Prince Bernhard Fund and the Foundation for Advanced Study in the Performing Arts allowed her to attend lessons with Diane Forlano in Chicago.

Nicoline Bovens maintains a busy solo career in oratorio, alongside her work in the Netherlands Radio Choir. In addition she has appeared in opera and operetta, notably in the roles of Spirit, First Witch and Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Leonora in The Mirror of Venetie by Hendrik Andriessen, Prince Orlovsky in Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Lisa in Grafin Maritza by Emmerich Kalman and Metella by Jacques Offenbach.

Nicoline Bovens sang roles in the productions Kaspar Hauser and Repelsteel by theater ensemble Teneeter.
She is no stranger either on the chamber music circuit, having given concerts with such groups as Slagwerkgroep Den Haag, the Ives Ensemble and Calefax Reed Quintet. She can be heard on several CD recordings, among them Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, and The Wooden Branch with Slagwerkgroep Den Haag.
